better water resource allocation, conservation & Management. |

promote fresh water conservation strategies in Irrigation, industry, domestic
and other sectors. |

address the water issues in rural & urban areas related to water quality,
water scarcity, optimum water utilization, water & health, water supply &
sanitation, water pricing, public-private partnership, community participation,
training and awareness. |

promote new innovative technologies of water saving and management like rainwater
harvesting, watershed management, desalination, water auditing & accounting
in all water related sectors through projects, seminars, workshops, conferences
and training programme. |

FICCI in mid nineties constituted
a Minor Irrigation Committee with Dr M S Swaminathan and Dr Y K Alagh, as Chairman
and Co-Chairman respectively with four very senior retired Irrigation Officers
and the Chairmen of Central Ground Water Board and Water and Power Consultancy
Services (I) Ltd. (WAPCOS) and representatives of NABARD as members. As
the Year 2003 was declared as the "International Fresh Water Year" FICCI
had organised the Water Summit 2003 - Fresh Water Conservation and Management
on October 21-22, 2003 - New Delhi Under
the FICCI - SPIC - MSSRF Project many irrigation programmes have been undertaken
throughout the country |
