International
Real Estate Development Summit 2005
The Federation of
Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in
partnership with The Ministry of Urban Development,
Government of India organised the second "International
Real Estate Development Summit" to highlight
investment opportunities in this sector and discuss
reforms that can accelerate its growth. Cushman and
Wakefield (India) were the knowledge partners for the
event. Their contribution included the preparation of
a background paper, which included an overview of the
Realty Sector in India at this time of tremendous change.
The Indian Government
has liberalized the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)
Policy and extended it to areas such as housing, townships,
and construction development projects. As a result,
a number of foreign investors are exploring investment
possibilities in India. The Summit aimed at providing
a forum for analysing the developments taking place
in India in the wake of the liberalization of the Foreign
Direct Investment policy for Real Estate as well as
showcasing opportunities available for investment in
the Real Estate Sector. It highlighted the perspective
of the foreign real estate investors towards India.
The summit brought all the stakeholders of the real
estate industry on a common platform to discuss developments
taking place in India in comparison with the global
real estate market.
