POWER

Power is the lifeline on which all economic activity of the country relies. In this era of globalisation, it is essential that electricity of good quality is provided at reasonable rates for economic activity so that competitiveness increases.

The FICCI Committee on Power comprises of leading companies from the private and public sector in the field of generation, transmission, distribution, and trading. The Reform Process in the Power Sector has received an impetus in the form of the newly enacted Electricity Act 2003, which envisions a healthy and competitive industry. For the reforms to be a success, it must be ensured that policies and statutes are in line with the objectives of this act and that a level playing field is created for all players.

This is a very exciting phase of power sector reforms in India and the FICCI power committee aims to be the forum for productive debate and the hub for initiatives at the policy level.
