Seminar on Asia-Pacific
Partnership on Clean Development and Climate : Creating
Mechanisms for Clean Technology Transfer & Financing
November 7, 2006, New Delhi
FICCI, jointly with the International Council for Capital
Formation (ICCF) had organised a seminar on the 'Asia-Pacific
Partnership (APP) on Clean Development and Climate:
Creating Mechanisms for Clean Technology Transfer and
Financing' on November 7, 2006 at Federation House,
Tansen Marg, New Delhi.
The goal of the seminar was to deliberate on mechanisms
that would be effective in delivering the primary goal
of APP - the development and transfer of clean technologies.
Apart from updating the participants on the current
progress of APP in India, the seminar provided a platform
for addressing the issues and concerns of the private
sector with respect to APP.
Dr Margo Thorning, Managing Director, ICCF and Ambassador
Alan Oxley, Founder of World Growth, and Chairman of
the Australian APEC Study Centre, addressed the seminar.
About the APP:
The APP was launched in 2005 as a partnership among
6 countries: Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea,
and USA, and is envisaged as a government industry partnership
initiative across eight sectors: cleaner fuel, steel,
cement, aluminium, power generation and transmission,
renewable energy, mining, buildings and appliances.
The APP is aimed at developing, deploying and transferring
cleaner, more efficient technologies to meet nationally
designed strategies for pollution reduction, energy
security and climate change.
