To address a critical national objective
for enhancing global competitiveness of enterprises in India
by enhancing its quality systems and related enablers and
also create a benchmarking standard for quality professionals
FICCI has forged an exclusive alliance with American Society
for Quality (ASQ).The partnership between the two premier
institutions was formalized through a signing ceremony at
the World Conference at Seattle, USA on 18th May,2005. ASQ
is the apex body for promoting quality in the world and internationally
acclaimed for its world class training and certification programs
which have become global benchmark for capacity building and
developing human resources in quality.
The alliance was formally launched in six
cities across India covering New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore,
Chennai and Hyderabad between 19th Oct to 26th Oct,05.The
launch seminar involved senior executives from ASQ USA, Mr
Gregory Weiler, General Manager, Asia who is leading the initiatives
to develop ASQ presence in Asia through establishing India
and China operations. He was accompanied by Dr Dale Tuttle
responsible for content development and management of various
ASQ certified training courses. The launch drew extensive
participation and enthusiastic response from over 450 HR as
well as Quality professionals from all major Indian corporate'
as well as multinationals .The launch also covered the introduction
of new programs being introduced such as Certified Six Sigma
Black Belt, Certified Quality Manager and Certified Quality
Engineer which are the three premier certification programs
of ASQ. The seminar gave a strategic insight on the future
developments in the field of quality through presentation
of the results of a "Futures Study" that is conducted
by ASQ .Eminent bureaucrats, technocrats and political leaders
gave inaugural speeches at this launch proclaiming the significance
of this initiative by FICCI to facilitate Indian enterprises
journey to become World Class.
