US India Roundtable on Pharmaceuticals

With the support of the US Department of Commerce and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, FICCI along with US India Business Council organized a Roundtable on Pharmaceutical Industry on June 23 in New York. The Roundtable was chaired by Mr S N Menon, Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry from the Indian side, by Mr Franklin Lavin, Under Secretary, US Department of Commerce from the US side and moderated by Dr Amit Mitra, Secretary General, FICCI. The Indian delegation included Mr D G Shah, Secretary General, Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance and representatives from Indian companies having operations in US. The roundtable was also attended by USFDA representatives along with the US Department of Commerce.

The purpose of organizing this Roundtable was to create an opportunity for Indian companies to discuss with the US Government officials and the US industry, specific issues of concern in the area of pharmaceuticals, including IPR and licensing issues. Pharmaceutical is a thrust area both in terms of investments and exports from India.
