Invitation for Prequalification
Supply and Installation of Secondary and Tertiary Distribution
Pipes, Consumer Connections and Kiosks
IDA Credit No. 377-TA
This invitation for prequalification follows the general
procurement notice for this project that appeared in
the UN Business Issue No. 610 of July 16, 2003.
The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania (hereinafter
referred to as "The Borrower") has secured
a credit from the International Development Association
(hereinafter referred to as "The Association")
towards the cost of the Dar es Salaam Water Supply and
Sanitation Project (DWSSP) - Supply and Installation
of Secondary and Tertiary Distribution Pipes, Consumer
Connections and Kiosks.
These works shall be located in Dar es Salaam and implemented
in four parts during the next four years with the first
part for construction during 2005, Contract SIPCK-ICB02,
as below:-
- The supply and installation of approximately 244
km of pipework comprising DN 80-200 mm of ferrous
(Steel or DI) and/or plastic (uPVC or HDPE) pipe materials.
- The construction of 84 Kiosks.
- The supply and installation of valves and fittings
and all other works associated with 'tying in' to
the existing reticulation.
- Consumer connections estimated at 4,000 comprising
rehabilitation of existing connections, relocations/connections
to the new lines and provision of a service line up
to the meter shall be carried out under the yearly
Contract Package.
Prequalification will be conducted through prequalification
procedures specified in the World Bank's Guidelines
Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, January
1995 (revised January and August 1996 and September
1997) and is open to all bidders from eligible source
countries, as defined in the guidelines. It is expected
that invitations to bid will be issued in September
2004 and the proposed bid submission shall be towards
end-November 2004. This contract is expected to be implementd
primarily during 2005. Prequalification for Bids for
Parts 3, 4, & 5 will be made in subsequent years
in accordance with their respective construction periods.
The criteria to be used in the pre-qualification are:-

Interested eligible applicants may obtain further information
from and inspect the prequalification document at the
address stated below from 0800 to 1600 hours local time
Mondays through Fidays (except for Public Holidays).
A complete set of documents in English may be purchased
by interested applicants on the submission of a written
application to the address below and upon payment of
a non-refundable fee of Tanzanian Shillings: Fifty thousand
(Ths. 50,000) or its equivalent in a freely convertible
currency. The method of payment will be cash or Banker's
cheque on collection of the document from the address
below:-

Applications for prequalification should be submitted
in sealed envelopes, delivered to the address below
on or before 1000 hours local time on 4th August, 2004
and must be clearly marked "Application to Prequalify
for Supply and Inatallation of Secondary and Tertiary
Distribution Pipes, Consumer Connections and Kiosks,
Contract No. SIPCK-ICB02"
