Note of Caution while dealing with Companies in Nigeria

FICCI has received a letter of caution from Ministry of External Affairs and Indian High Commission in Abuja (Nigeria) that Indian businesses/individuals have been continuously falling victim to various employment/business offers/scams through the internet. Very often there is no recourse for any recoveries since unscrupulous character indulging in such scams essentially operate through a complex channel of communication of mobile phones or emails and defraud unsuspecting individuals/companies of huge amounts. The concerned Nigerian authorities are also perturbed over the recent upsurge in employment scams targeting Indian nationals, who respond to fraudulent internet job offers purportedly from multi-national oil companies in Nigeria. Even educated people have fallen prey to lucrative offers made by such scamesters. s

Kindly make a note of this and carefully scrutinize such offers from Nigeria through Indian Mission before acting on them.
