Foreign trade turnover of the Saratov Region in 2004 amounted to 1,7 billion USD and increased by 31,7 % as compared to 2003.

Exports constituted 86,4% of the foreign trade turnover. The foreign trade turnover growth in 2004 amounted to 33,4%. Products of the fuel and energy complex and petrochemical complex are exported abroad. Mainly products of mechanical engineering, petrochemical and food industries are exported to the CIS countries. Imports increased by 21,3% as compared to 2003. Products of mechanical engineering, petrochemical and food industries are imported from foreign countries. Imports from the CIS countries are mainly food products, as well as those of mechanical engineering and petrochemical industry.
