Economic potential
GROSS REGIONAL PRODUCT

The gross regional product (GRP) of the Saratov Region amounts to 1,1% in the total structure of gross regional products of subjects of the Russian Federation, 6,7% - in the Privolzhskiy Federal District. The region is 8th in the Privolzhskiy Federal District and 48th in Russia for GRP production per capita.

In 2004 rate of the GRP growth amounted to 108,5% against 2003, that is higher than in Russia on the whole – 107,2%.

Commodity production still prevails in the GRP structure but the portion of the service part is growing. Factors that influenced the dynamics of the production of commodities and services in the structure were higher rates of growth in sectors that produced commodities as compared to sectors rendering services, as well as different dynamics of prices for commodities and services.
