Today small business of the Saratov Region is 9-11% of GRP, 10% of taxes paid to the budget, 14,5% of the working people in the region. The Saratov Region holds the first position in the Privolzhskiy Federal District for the number of small-scale enterprises, the 6th position for the volume of production manufactured by small-scale companies. An effective system of small business development was created in the region. A branch of the Small Business Support Foundation «Fora» successfully operates in the field of small business crediting, last year it gave out 7470 loans at the sum of 287,4 million roubles. A united database of free industrial areas and equipment, areas for building up was created for entrepreneurs of the region.

Information and consultancy services are rendered by centres for entrepreneurs which are parts of territorial branches of the consultative Regional Council on Entrepreneurship Problems. The regional target programme «Small Business Development in Saratov Region in 2005-2007» was adopted for realization, the project «Credit Cooperation Development in Saratov Region» was successfully carried out.
