Ladies and gentlemen! I greet you and present for your attention the passport of the Saratov Region – a guidebook of one of attractive and unique areas of the Volga region.

The Saratov Region has large economic, scientific, investment, cultural and staff potential. The region is a railway junction that connects the center of Russia with the Urals, Siberia and Central Asia. Beneficial geographic position, climatic conditions and developed infrastructure provide the region with many advantages.

While defining a strategy of the region’s development in the near future, we set for us a goal to reach stable positions in economic, social and political fields among other Russian regions, to create a favorable investment climate in the region. Today we are coming to a new level of relationship with potential partners based on the constructive cooperation of business and power.

The policy of information transparency already brings its fruit. As for the level of investment potential the Saratov Region ranks 20th among Russian regions and 6th in the Privolzhskiy Federal District. At the beginning of May 2005 the prestigious rating agency Moody’s Interfax Rating Agency estimated highly the solvency level of our region, thus, confirmed the credit rating of the Saratov Region at the level of investment A1(rus) and RUS-1.

I do hope that in the passport you will find all the necessary information needed for closer acquaintance with our region and its potential.

The Saratov Region boasts not only business activities but also its rich multinational history and cultural heritage. Unique landscapes, historic places, cultural and architectural monuments will produce an unforgettable impression of the Saratov Region.
