Indo-Israel Business Alliance
In order to promote Indo-Israeli cooperation to its
full strength in the private sector, an Indo-Israeli
Joint Business Council was established in 1993. The
signatories were Federation of Indian Chambers Of Commerce
and Industry (FICCI) and Associated Chamber of Commerce
and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) from the Indian side
and Federation of Israeli Chamber of Commerce (FICC)
from the Israeli side. However, in the Inter-Govemmental
Meeting of India-Israel Joint Trade and Economic Committee,
held on January 28-29, 1996 at Jerusalem the two Governments
made emphasis on closer interaction between business
communities for expansion of trade and mutual cooperation.
Keeping this in view it was proposed to upgrade the
Joint Business Council (JBC) into India-Israel Business
Alliance (IIBA). The IIBA came into being on 24th October,
1996.
The IIBA is the nodal agency for the promotion of economic
and commercial cooperation between India and Israel.
It has been established at FICCI through the joint efforts
of FICCI, Embassy of Israel, various Chambers of Commerce
- ASSOCHAM, FIEO, PHDCCI etc. The Alliance is also supported
by Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Commerce,
Government of India. The IIBA has been designed to provide
SINGLE WINDOW SERVICE for all matters pertaining to
the promotion of trade and economic cooperation between
India & Israel.
The forum also publishes a quarterly newsletter which
highlight various opportunities available for doing
business with Israeli companies.
Objectives
- Promotion of trade, investment and commercial relations
between the two countries as well as in third countries
Examination & strengthening of existing institutional
links between India and Israel at all levels.
- Identification of regulatory and other problems
affecting trade and investment and suggest measures
to remove these difficulties.
- To arrange trade fairs & promotional events
exhibitions, seminars, lectures, etc.
- Technology transfer and sharing of commercial information.
- Assist in establishing joint ventures between the
two countries
- ASS!ST in establishing appropriate contacts between
the businessmen of the two countries.
Membership
The Membership of IIBA is open to all companies &
individuals who have business interest in India &
Israel.
Board
IIBA's activities are supervised by a Board consisting
of 30 members. Mr Shyam S Bhartia, Mg Director, Vam
Organic Chemicals Ltd. is the Chairman of the IIBA.
He has been nominated as the Chairman along with the
other Board Members for a term of 2 years. After the
First term of IIBA is completed the Chairman & Board
Members would be elected.
