The Indian Council of Arbitration
Small Claims Arbitrations
Another special feature of the
Arbitration Rules relates to small claims arbitrations, i.e.,
where the value of the claim and counterclaim taken together
in the disputes does not exceed Rs. 50,000/-. Such cases are
decided by a sole arbitrator on the basis of the documents filed
by the parties and generally no oral hearings are held unless
the parties otherwise agree or the arbitrator so directs.
