Our Mandate

FICCI has revitalized Indo-EU bilateral relations by extending a conducive and enabling platform to the business community on either side to explore fresh business and investment opportunities.

The division works closely with Government of India ministries, Economic and Trade Missions and embassies in New Delhi including the European Commission and counterpart chambers in EU constituents to fashion an agenda for continuous interaction and engagement in the domain of business, investment and issues of larger relevance such as environment and climate change.

Key Accomplishments

  • Augmented visibility of India Inc through regular delegations – as part of inter governmental joint commission meetings, Destination India roadshows with Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce, Govt of India; Exhibitions and trade shows, Buyer Seller Meets.
  • High level CEOs Roundtables and interactions.
  • Highlighted the immense potential of cooperation between Indian mid-size companies and European SMEs by spearheading SME-SME interactive platforms through successful missions to and from Italy, France, Germany, and the UK.
  • Brought regional and sectoral interaction to the fore by mobilizing delegations to states and clusters.
  • Close cooperation with policy institutes, think-tanks, universities and multilateral institutions across EU to spark the thought processes on critical issues.
  • Facilitating investment.
  • Forum of Parliamentarians with various EU member states to broad-base and accelerate bilateral dialogue by providing a mechanism for debate and discussions between Indian and EU parliamentary counterparts, senior government officials, thinks-tanks and political foundations and the business community in Germany with the main objective to give further impetus to this dynamic relationship.
  • Strong partnerships across Europe with employers’ federations, business associations, trade promotion bodies, leading Chambers of Commerce, government and other apex organizations including policy institutes and universities.
  • Diverse & rich body of knowledge on various aspects of India-EU bilateral and multilateral relationship. Reports and studies are acknowledged at the highest levels of government and industry.

  • Identify bottlenecks and barriers that hinder the free flow of trade and investment.
  • Sensitize all stakeholders including the Government of India to policy changes that must be made so that the investment environment becomes less cumbersome for foreign investors.
  • Explore virgin territory: identify and nurture development of high potential areas for long term commercial cooperation between India and the EU.
  • Contribute to major issues of greater global concern through research and participation in stakeholder meetings.
