The ASEAN and Oceanic region has gained economic, political and strategic importance in the last decade, offering immense potential for trade partnerships with India. T he Division is committed towards stepping up engagement with ASEAN along with Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Israel by providing an enabling environment to the businesses.

International networking and interactions at the highest level, have helped the Indian business community to expand, deepen and synergise their businesses in the region. The Division has strong connectivity and networking with the Industry, Government, Chambers / Associations / Business Organizations in the region - having over 40 MOUs. This has helped in blossoming and strengthening effective partnerships and exchanging ideas, as also promoting business to business interactions.

The Joint Business Council ( JBC ) meetings are held co-terminus with the Joint Trade Commissions between the respective Governments. This helps in taking up issues of concern to the businesses.

Programmes are organised in partnership in India and overseas, with various Ministries of the Government of India. The Division helps to organize and enhance competitiveness, leadership and strategic capabilities, through the interchange of information and knowledge.

Along side the ASEAN and Oceanic Region, the Division also handles Multilateral Groupings like UNIDO, Confederation of Asia Pacific Chambers of Commerce & Industry (CACCI), Indian Ocean Rim (IOR), UNITAR, G-15, G-77, Commonwealth, amongst others. These track two business initiatives with multilateral organizations have resulted in forging effective partnerships in implementing projects and reinforcing the views of developing countries in the global development agenda.

• Business Delegation accompanying the Head of State, Prime Minister and Ministerial Delegations - provide meaningful business partnerships between Indian and ASEAN & Oceanic Region. Similarly hosting these Delegations in India.
• Capacity building, joint ventures & investments and market enhancement
• Enhancing cooperation at global, regional, national and secotral level
