SEAWAYS EXTENDS COASTAL EXPRESS FEEDER SERVICE TO CHENNAI

After about 4 months of successful service, Seaways Shipping Limited is extending its North Bay of Bengal shuttle service to Chennai. The maiden call of the 224 teu capacity, Coastal Express-1 at CCT would be on 25th Oct with port rotation of Chennai-Kolkata-Chittagong- Vizag-Chennai and a 12 day fixed schedule.

While catering to direct trade with Bangladesh from the East coast of India, the service would also induce transshipment and coastal trade between Chennai/ Vizag and Kolkata container terminals.

Understand from sources at Seaways that the proposed extension is receiving good response from container trade and operators at Chennai. Special interest is shown in the coastal sector between Chennai and Kolkata. Domestic operators can now move their cargo between these locations in a hassle free manner with transit time of just two to three days.
