Request for Feedback on India-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA)
India has signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with Japan which has been in effect since August 2011. As part of the Review process, on completion of one year of the CEPA implementation, the second meeting of the Joint Committee to review the implementation of India-Japan CEPA is scheduled to be held in September 2012.
In this regard, Ministry of Commerce & Industry has requested for feedback from trade and industry on issues relating to the Rules of Origin under the India-Japan CEPA. As you may be aware, rules of origin are the laws, regulations and administrative guidelines that governments use to determine an imported product's country of origin. Determining where a product comes from is not always easy when the raw materials and parts of a product can be provided in several different countries and hence feedback from the trading community is immensely important.
You are requested to provide your suggestions/detailed views/inputs/comments on any issue relating to the Rules of Origin under the India-Japan CEPA with appropriate justification.
Kindly send us feedback/inputs pertaining to your line of business. Comments/feedback may kindly be e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org latest by August 6, 2012.
