Summit August 21-22, 2008, New Delhi Date:
21-22 August 2008 Venue:

Skill development
is the key to promote employability and economic growth. The benefits of India
being the youngest country with almost 54 percent population below the age of
25 years can be truly realized by Skill development measures to create an employable
workforce. Further, the skills imparted should be correlated to the existing and
emerging market demands, both nationally and internationally. Today, globalization
is pushing skill migration along with capital and technology, therefore India
has to create a global skilled workforce. FICCI has been
taking extensive initiatives in the area of strengthening vocational training
and skill development to support Indian industry to achieve a sustained growth
rate of more than 9 percent per annum together with increased employability of
youth. To achieve it, FICCI is partnering with the Government of India on Public-Private
Partnership mode to upgrade the vocational training institutions, converting them
into Centers of excellence. FICCI has also been designated by the Govt. as an
assessor of Skills under its mega project, Skill Development Initiative. In
this context, FICCI is organising the GLOBAL SKILL SUMMIT on 21-22 August 2008
at New Delhi to bring together all the stakeholders and focus on policies to promote
