Address on 'Competition, Economic Policy and Common Man' by Shri Ashok Chawla, Chairman, Competition Commission of India

Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA), Ahmedabad is the apex Training Institution of the Government of Gujarat. As a part of its activities, FICCI in partnership with SPIPA is starting a Lecture Series in sectors including Public Administration, Good Governance, Economics & Trade, Social Sectors, etc.

Liberalization, privatization and globalization have resulted in higher growth for the Indian economy. Sustenance of the growth momentum, however, calls for vibrant, consumer-friendly and dynamic markets. With the enactment of the Competition Act, 2002 and the establishment of the Competition Commission of India, the institutional framework to support healthy and fair competition is now in place. The Competition Commission of India has been established to prevent practices having adverse effect on competition, to promote and sustain competition in markets to protect the interests of consumers.

It is our privilege to inform you that Shri Ashok Chawla, Chairman, Competition Commission of India, shall deliver the Inaugural Lecture in FICCI-SPIPA’s Lecture Series on Friday, 22 June 2012 at 5.00 pm on ‘Competition, Economic Policy and Common Man’.The venue is Auditorium, SPIPA, Satellite Road, Opp. ISRO, Ahmedabad.

Shri Ashok Chawla is a very senior IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre, having served in Gujarat Government and Government of India in very important positions, retiring as Finance Secretary, Government of India.
