Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), in cooperation with World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce and Industry is organizing an International Conference on Traditional Knowledge at FICCI, New Delhi, on 13th of November 2009.
The Conference will be inaugurated by His Excellency Dr. Francis Gurry, Director General of WIPO.
The Conference will be attended by participants from across the globe, including, South Africa, USA, Kenya, Mexico, Bangladesh, Australia, ARIPO, etc.
The Objectives:
This international conference will assist stakeholders in sharing their experiences, articulate views and provide meaningful recommendations regarding i) The State of Play in the International Protection of Traditional Knowledge (TK) and Traditional Cultural Expressions (TCEs); and ii) The Effective Protection of Traditional Knowledge and Cultural Expressions: National and Community Experiences.

- understand how IP can be used for effective protection and commercialization of Traditional Knowledge and Traditional Cultural Expressions;

- discuss the way forward in providing effective protection of Traditional Knowledge.
Participation Fee:
To meet the expenses of the Conference, participation fee will be charged from the participants. A fee of Rs. 3500/- per participant has been fixed.
The participants will be provided the conference kit, including, background material, lunch and tea/coffee.
