Dr. Jyotsna Suri

Dr Jyotsna Suri has been associated with Bharat Hotels since its inception. In the year 1987, she became the Group's Joint Managing Director. She took on the mantle of Chairperson & Managing Director of Bharat Hotels in the year 2006 and since has been the driving force of the Group’s operations across India.

Stated to be India's fastest growing Hotel Chain – the group today offers 17 five-star luxury hotels, with nine operational properties (The Lalit New Delhi, The Lalit Mumbai, The Lalit Golf & Spa Resort Goa, The Lalit Grand Palace Srinagar, The Lalit Ashok Bangalore, The Lalit Laxmi Vilas Palace Udaipur, The Lalit Temple View Khajuraho, The Lalit Resort & Spa Bekal (Kerala) & The Lalit Jaipur) and eight under restoration/development in India and overseas. Under her leadership, the Group is also making its foray into mid-segment hotels.

On November 19, 2008 she charted a highly successful brand change for the company. All luxury hotels now fly “THE LALIT” flag under The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group, as a tribute to the company's Founder Chairman Mr Lalit Suri.

A multifaceted personality, she is a patron of art, culture, sports and education. Her social initiative Project Disha, being implemented under the overall CSR policy of Bharat Hotels, seeks to assist school students and local youth, to have access to quality “education leading to employment”. These centres are currently operating in three locations across India - Khajuraho, Udaipur, & Bekal. Two more centres are planned to be established in Kolkata and Dehradoon. Other trusts that she has been working closely with, are The Subros Education Society, SAVERA (a body doing work for the underprivileged), 24/7 Women's Security (focuses on women safety & training), SEEDS (skills training and educations for the needy), KHUSHI, The Blind School and The Spastic Society.

Dr Jyotsna Suri has been holding various portfolios with the Industry Associations namely - Chairperson of the FICCI Tourism Committee (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) for the last five years and the only woman to do so.The only Indian member on the International Executive Committee of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), Executive Member of Hotel Association of India. Under her direction, FICCI introduced ‘The Great India Travel Bazaar’ in the year 2008 and ‘The Great Domestic Tourism Bazaar’ in the year 2011 – which have been greatly appreciated by buyers and sellers alike. These conclaves have now become keenly awaited events in the annual calendar of such business interactions.

Dr Suri is known for her vociferous promotion of Indian tourism – both nationally and internationally. “Developing Destinations and not just hotels” is her conviction as she believes that economic benefits of tourism will bring peace and prosperity to the region acting as an economic multiplier; giving jobs and livelihood to many. Some of her unique initiatives to develop destinations are Polo Tournament in Drass, Shikarathon in Srinagar, The Lalit Ice Hockey in Leh, The Lalit Caddies Golf Tournament, The Lalit Chaupal, The Lalit Art Festival and The Lalit Tipaiya-thon in Khajuraho, The Lalit Cycle-on, The Lalit Kabaddi Tournament and The Lalit Utsav in Bekal and Festival of Canacona in Goa.

The Group has been recognized with number of awards for its distinctive efforts including National Tourism Awards in three major categories in the year 2009-10: Heritage Grand Category - The Lalit Grand Palace Srinagar; Best Tourism Promotion Publicity Material – ‘Delhi -A Gateway to India’, The Lalit New Delhi and Hotel providing best facilities for differently abled guests -The Lalit New Delhi.

During her tenure of over 5 years as the CMD of Bharat Hotels, Dr Suri has received the following recognitions:
